Fairyland
11/27/13 - FtLd
Mary had a little lamb
With some nice mint jelly
And some big old yams
You know Mary likes to eat real good
Every now and then
It’s not her fault
And Jack and Jill
Ran down the hill
But the sheriff still caught ‘em
Threw them both in jail
Now no one can hear
Their screams and yells
What a shame all for stolen water
And there are no fairies
Down in fairyland
Just some big old monsters
With some big old hands
But don’t you fret
No don’t you cry
Just learn to read between the lines
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
What’d you think was gonna happen
After all he’s a god dam egg
Who smokes too much marijuana
And rub a dub a dub
Three men in a tub
Getting cleaned up
To hit the gay pubs
After all it’s let live and let love
Or at least we oughta
And there are no fairies....
You Know Little Bo Peep lost her sheep
But someone saw Mary
Down at the crime scene
Said she butchered ‘em all
On old Miller’s land
At the trial she said she had run outta lamb
And little Miss Muffett sat on her tuffet
Long came a spider named Jimmy Buffett
Gave her a cheesebuger fries supersized
Now she got heart disease
Ah fuck it
And there are no fairies....
And M - I - C then K - E - Y
Why because we’re gonna rob you
That’s why
Take it all from you for some dumb rides
Down in Floreeda
And Miley Cyrus is a scarey thing
But Lady Gaga she’s just plain old mean
And Madonna thinks
She started the whole thing
When it was really Elton and his lover
And there are no fairies....
Oh the lives
Oh the lies
verse:

38.47.56

Child In Every Man

Child In Every Man
1979 - Syracuse, NY
She says life is too painful
That she got the bitter end
Her life was meant to be free
But she don’t understand
That he’s a child in a wheelchair
And he knows that he can’t walk
She can hardly move
And it’s hard for him to talk
And you were such a beautiful lady
When you were a man of grace
But the devil
Has scarred your face
Oh the devil
Has scarred your face
She says that people hurt her
So she crawls into him and hides
Whenever people abuse him
Cause he won’t stand up and fight
And he just sits in his chair all day
And dreams of a different time
While she lays deep inside his head
And cries into the night
And you were such a beautiful lady
When you were a man of grace
But the devil
Has scarred your face
Oh the devil
Has scarred your face
She says she should never have lived
Her agony’s too much to bear
Cause he has never given her
The freedom to appear
And they are just one person
trapped within two different minds
That paralyze his movement
And keep her from living life
But he is a child in a wheelchair
And he dreams everyday
Of standing next to that chair
And slowly walking away
And you were such a beautiful child
When you were a man of grace
But the devil
Has scarred your face
Oh the devil
Has scarred your face

Crossing Kansas

Intro to Crossing Kansas
This song is called Crossing Kansas
And it’s about the Great Gay Migration
Of the 1960's and 1970's in the United States
Back then you didn’t come out
You got out before you were either beat up or killed
And that meant moving to a city far far away
Somewhere where you’d heard
There was a gay ghetto
Where you could be safe
Where you could be free
Where you could find a new home
And if you made it there
You would be greeted by the phrase
You’re not in Kansas anymore
Which meant you had made it
You had escaped
You were safe
So each year during those decades
Thousands upon thousands of people
Moved from one part of the country to another
Seeking safety
Freedom
And a new home
And in that process
Many of them literally crossed Kansas
Either driving or flying right over it
And this song - Crossing Kansas
Tells the story of one person
Who is about to walk out that door
And take the terrifying leap of faith
To cross over Kansas
Crossing Kansas
09-21-13 - FtLd
Crossing Kansas
I'm crossing off my time
Leaving all my living
I am leaving it behind
Never going back
And I am never gonna try
To find the rhyme or reason
Or understand just why
Everything's a fucking mess
And everyone's a bore
And everything is so screwed up
And I can't take it no more
So don't you look for me on Tuesday
When I told you once before
I'm crossing Kansas
Right out of the door
I’m crossing Kansas
And I won’t be here anymore
Cause everything's ridiculous
And everyone's resigned
Pretending they're oblivious
And acting like they're blind
But don't expect me not to notice
What's right in front of my eyes
So I'm crossing Kansas
Right out of the door
I’m crossing Kansas
And you won't see me anymore
(break)
But if you ever wake up
From that coma that you're in
And you wonder what I'm up to
And exactly where I been
Well I been looking for someone else
Who knows just how to live
So I’m crossing Kansas
I'm crossing off my time
Leaving all my living
I am leaving it behind
Cause everything's a fucking mess
And everyone's a bore
And everything is so screwed up
And I can't take it no more
So don't you look for me on Tuesday
When I told you once before
I'm crossing Kansas
Right out of the door
I’m crossing Kansas
And you won't see me here no more
Anymore

Angel, Drinks and Dreams (for Tommy)
12/25/09 - Clewiston, FL
Spin the lights and cheer the crowds
Let the music fall apart
Turn you body inside out
Never let them know how hard
(chorus) I try to call your name
And catch your eyes
Oh angel won’t you talk to me
Sooth my body, ease my mind
Oh angel be my drink and dreams
The silk and satin of your touch
The snow that drifts above your eyes
The quiet ways you say so much
The ways you body shakes and slides
(chorus)
The days turn into months
The months to years
The years roll by
Makeup is the shield you wear
You have to put on more each time
(chorus)
You’ve graced a thousand stages
And you’ve read a thousand lines
But no one’s heard
A word you’ve said
Cause you were just the next in line
(chorus)
The tips no longer do reward
Your clothes no longer shine
And when the needle slays you
You’ll leave all your pain behind
I tried to call your name
And catch your eyes
Oh angel why won’t you talk to me
Sooth my body, ease my mind
Oh angel be my drink and dreams
So spin the lights and cheer the crowds
Let the music fall apart
Turn you body inside out
Never let them know how hard

Gay Love Song
07/04/07 - NMB
I walked into the room
Sat across from him and soon
I found that I was thinking
Just about him
I wondered how he would feel
If I suggested he appealed
To me
It was like in a dream
His movements came so fluidly
Caressed my soul without saying a word
And suddenly I realized
I was seeing through his very eyes
The beauty that’s always there
And comes alive whenever I
Am with someone
Who is but one
Who cares
We talked of many things
Of what would be and what had been
The conversation slowly wound around
To things that meant oh so much more
Like touching him in ways before
I never had the chance to share
Til I found someone
Who is the one
Who cares
And laying in the night
I was taken by the sight
Of man to man
Holding him so close
In our embrace I felt so clean
It purified my very being
And helped me know
That he’s the one who dares
To be someone
Who is but one
Who cares
To be someone
Who is the one
Who cares
To be the one
For whom
I care

Clearer (for JF)
10/16/11 - FtLd
And I don’t know
What is the meaning
Spinning on a planet
Why am I breathing in
The air that you let go
It this connection even
Real or is it deceiving me
And the time goes
Looking in the mirror
Trace the lines
But the shadows get no clearer
And I don’t know
Why you are more dearer
Than you were to me yesterday
Is it any clearer to you now
And I can’t hold back the day
Cause it’s not in the lines
That we rehearsed when we were younger
And I’m not getting any stronger
So all that I can say
Is I don’t know
And when you turn around
You still can’t see behind you
You’re only seeing
More things you can no longer
Hold onto
Memories have no meaning
When they are no longer
In your heart
So let me be there
To breath in the air
That you let go of
Cause you can no longer
Hold onto tomorrow
It comes and it goes
Just like today
And I don’t know
Why you are more dearer
Than you were to me yesterday
Oh won’t you please tell me now
Is it any clearer
To you now
